Tai Hodge
Born and raised in Tortola, Tai is a self-taught digital artist whose whimsical and evocative creations draw viewers into worlds rich with emotion and imagination. A proud alumna of the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College with an Associate’s degree in Humanities, she currently works at Cill’s Dry Goods and Hardware in Sea Cows Bay; balancing her professional life with her creative passion.
Tai’s artistic journey began slowly, rooted in a childhood immersed in vibrant visual storytelling. From beloved animated series like Winx, Scary Godmother, and Clifford to iconic Japanese works such as Fairy Tail, Cowboy Bebop, and Soul Eater, she was captivated by the ability of these worlds to weave joy, pain, and resilience into lived-in, believable experiences. Witnessing characters overcome hardship inspired her dream: to create works that spark whimsy, joy, and reflection, while capturing the bittersweet beauty of life’s struggles.
Although her vision had been simmering for years, it wasn’t until the global pause of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 that Tai was able to fully dive in; teaching herself techniques, refining her craft, and channeling her inspirations into illustrations heavily influenced by anime, fairytales, and mythology.
When she’s not creating art, Tai can be found deep in conversation about TV series, gaming, or enjoying quality time with her family and the two stray cats she’s lovingly adopted as her own.
