Arts Rehab @ HM Prison

In April 2026, Creative Waves re-launched its Arts Rehabilitation Programme at HM Prison Balsam Ghut, building on a successful pilot delivered in 2025.

The programme provides structured creative sessions for inmates, offering a consistent space to develop practical skills and self-expression. Led by Caroline Sorrentino, the sessions saw strong engagement, with participants embracing the opportunity to learn in a different kind of environment.

Early workshops focused on foundational techniques, including colour theory and how to use colour more confidently, alongside introducing artists to help inform and inspire the work as the programme developed.

We’re incredibly grateful to Ogier for making this programme possible. Their commitment to supporting community wellbeing and access to opportunity has allowed us to continue and expand this work.

Update: June 2026

On Friday 26th June, Creative Waves launched an exhibition at the Arts Hub to celebrate the work created during the programme. The exhibition featured participant artwork, a merchandise collection using participant designs, plants and eggs from the prison available to purchase, and speeches from those involved in bringing the project to life.

The launch was a proud moment for everyone involved and offered the wider community an opportunity to see and support the work produced through the programme. Following the opening, the exhibition has been extended throughout July, allowing more people to visit the Arts Hub and support rehabilitation through the arts.
