Simond Llewelyn

EIS Airport Mural

We were excited to invite local artists to apply for a unique public art opportunity at Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport (EIS) — painting a mural on the 123 foot long interior wall facing both arrivals and departures.

The brief called for an abstract artwork created specifically for an airport setting. We were looking for something bold, with pattern and full of movement, using flowing lines, symbols, shapes, and repeating forms to create a welcoming visual experience for travellers passing through the space.

After reviewing a number of strong submissions, Simond Llewelyn was selected as the artist for the project. His final mural transformed the wall completely, bringing colour and stories of BVI history into the terminal. The finished piece looks incredible and has already made a strong impression welcoming visitors, inspiring residents, brightening up a shared public space, and most importantly, showcasing the creative talent that exists right here in the BVI.
