Nilsa Wheatley
Creative Waves was delighted to present HAPPY, a solo exhibition by British Virgin Islands artist Nilsa Wheatley.
Inspired by her personal journey after the 2017 hurricanes, HAPPY explored finding joy again through abstract art. Drawing inspiration from nature, Nilsa's work reflected resilience, hope and the power of creativity to heal.
Nilsa first studied art at Parsons School of Design and now creates from her home in Fat Hog's Bay, Tortola, where painting has become both a creative outlet and a place of relaxation.
The exhibition opened with a wonderful community celebration at the Creative Waves Arts Hub, where people gathered to experience the collection and celebrate Nilsa's work. It was a special evening that reflected not only the strength of her artwork, but also the love and encouragement surrounding local artists in the British Virgin Islands.
Alongside the original paintings, visitors could also purchase greeting cards featuring Nilsa's artwork.
We are incredibly grateful to Nilsa for sharing HAPPY with our community and are proud to have welcomed this beautiful exhibition to the Arts Hub.
